Looking for a team-building opportunity for your employees? Have a group of friends that want to make a difference? Want to get out of the office and improve your community? Team Building days provide corporations, nonprofit organizations, congregations, social clubs, schools, and many other groups the chance to bond with their team while giving back. Unlike spending a day doing trust falls or building marshmallow towers, your group will become closer by building something that makes a difference.
The Habitat staff was warm, welcoming, and very eager to actually let us all pitch in. [The experience] showed me and my colleagues how a little bit of hard work could go a long way in helping a family achieve the dream of homeownership. It was also nice to learn new skills and see how a building is assembled from the ground up. It’s a wonderful day of service, and you actually get your hands dirty while there!
How it Works
Team Build days are held Wednesday through Saturday for groups of up to 15 volunteers. We provide all materials, training, and supervision so no previous construction experience is required. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Our build days fill up quickly, so we recommend requesting days 3-4 months in advance.
Team Build days are a benefit we provide to DC Habitat sponsors. Why do we ask your team to become a sponsor? Our ability to help local families in need of housing is dependent not only on our volunteers, but on the amount of money we raise. Sponsors who support us with both their time and treasure are critical to helping give low-income families the opportunity to thrive and they make our work possible. Sponsorships–which are tax-deductible–start at the $5000 level and you can learn more about options and benefits here. If your group is a nonprofit, faith-based, school, government, military, or social group, please indicate that in the form below to learn more about our nonprofit Team Build requirements.
Many groups raise the funds needed to sponsor a build day. Holding fundraising events and creating a fundraising page for your team build, which you can do in under five minutes by clicking here, are great ways to get started. We’re happy to provide support and resources to help you meet your goal.
